Lake Powell

So I'm a horrible person because I almost never take pictures when I'm vacation. I guess I'm used to my mom taking them! So, sorry, no pics from Powell this week. Just know it was awesome. I went with my cousins family and all of their friends. So fun!

We were supposed to leave Sunday at 3 or 4 in the afternoon but ran into some complications, namely one of the trucks was broken and had to be fixed and then my car over heated when we were waiting out front to leave. Apparently nobody told me that you can't idle with air on full blast for 20 minutes. It turned out okay, we left my car there and took another one, and good thing it happened there instead of on the road!

Got to Powell around 12:30 that night, and just unloaded our bedding and slept on the dirt road. Next morning, we quickly set up camp in a perfect camping spot and then proceeded to just relax the rest of the day.

The next couple of days consisted of sleeping in, lounging around reading, tanning, cliff jumping, swimming to the buoys, kayaking, and eating :) The boat didn't work too well, but I at least got in a good wake boarding run once. It was well worth it, and I even popped up on my first try!

On Wednesday the boys made this huge slip n slide down the beach from our camp, they had a long downhill run and then a big ramp at the end. Only problem is, the ramp was too steep. Uncle Russ decided to test it out before they really checked the depth of the water. End result: bad concussion, broken arm in three places, dislocated shoulder. He kept asking the same questions over and over, like "Did I get some air?" and "Did I look good?" and "What happened?" It was quite crazy! Shelle took Russ to the hospital in Page, but they said he needed surgery so they headed down to the valley that night. He got a big plate and 14 screws in his arm! Talk about intense! So for the rest of the trip we were without our ma and pa of the camp, but we got along okay. Luckily all the meal making was already planned out between their older kids. Camp take down was a little bit harder than it would've been, but it all turned out okay!

So now I'm home from Powell, and I still have Havasupai to look forward to later this week! I will definitely take pictures on this trip, so maybe I'll share them when I post next.

Summer is almost over, live it up!
